Post Adoption Counseling and Workshops

Information about workshops that I conduct is regularly updated and posted on this web site. I may be offering groups or speaking in your area in the near future, so please check in for current information and feel free to send e-mail. I currently offer counseling, consultation, in-service training, and groups.  My focus is talking with children about adoption, donor methods of family building, and their origins.

Post Adoption Workshops for Parents

These special workshops are for couples and single parents who have recently adopted children and are beginning to deal with some of the early issues of adoption. The premise of these workshops is that adoption can be a healthy way to create a family. Therefore the model is educational.  Groups include time for discussion and questions.

Topics include but are not limited to:
 • When to tell your child about adoption
 • How to discuss adoption with your child
 • How much to tell your child about adoption
 • Talking with family members, loved ones, schools and others about Adoption
 • Identity and self-esteem
 • Birth parents and birth families
 • Understanding and working with "open adoption"
 • Transracial adoption and multi-cultural families

Groups are continually being formed for parents with children of all ages.
